The Beatles (1960-1970)

I saved the best for last. My favorite classic rock group of all time. These four inspired me to be a musician and the person I am today. Their creativity has never seized to amaze me throughout their ten years together. I appreciate every song they've ever done. That's right. Every song. I've been listening to their music for as long as I can remember. They are simply imcomparable to any other group that has ever played. These guys started classic rock. They managed to add pop music to good old rock and roll.

I simply can't choose a favorite song. Every track has something good about it. I admire every aspect of their music in each song. These four are basically untouchable when it comes to global success as well. The amount of fans they can sustain after 50 years of not touring is mind-boggling. In the meantime, here's an example of how many fans they had when they were touring.

I also feel like they inspired me so much that I see them as mutual friends. Whenever I get lonely, I put them on. Whenever times are tough, I put them on. When times are great, I put them on. I simply can't stop enjoying their music. Amazingly, I grew up with them. I really started getting into them in grade 5. So I've been memorizing The Beatles' songs for six years now. Although it feels I've known them for ages.

Members:

-John Lennon: The man who done it all. With him, you either love him or you hate his guts. Back then, he was the only person to give the world the truth. Not what the media wanted to hear. I have much respect for what he's done with music and with his point of view on things. Truly one of a kind and is by far my favorite lyricist. He was gone way too soon.

-Paul Mccartney: He leaves me speechless every time. He is such an amazing song writer, performer, singer, bassist and all out artist. Definetly my favorite beatle. He deserves all the credit he's received throughout his life, and believe me on that. He is the rock and roll pioneer. I have great respect for him as well. The way he's still performing and making music is breath-taking.

- George Harrison: What can I say? It's George Harrison!! Seriously I hope I don't meet a person who has never heard of him, because I'd be gravely dissapointed by that aspect. He's just such a mysterious musician that just builds such a good idol. I'm not a fan of his Sitar music though, I find that it just isn't him.

-Ringo Starr: Good ol' Ringo. He may have only written a few songs for the group's discography, but he's still more talented than most songwriters of today. I've been drumming like him since I first learned. I guess you can say I "copied" his style. But it's so diverse and unique that it's hard to learn a different style now.

To conclude this blog with this legendary band, I would like to recommend them IMMENSELY to anyone. I mean look at me, I'm an adolescent in the 2010's and I love their music.
All in all, if you're ever in need of something to take all of your troubles away, I strongly suggest the greatest musical group in the history of mankind, The Beatles.

Def Leppard (1977-Present)

A more recent rock group. Although only a few members remaining, this group is one of rock and roll's burliest British group. You could throw any  problem towards this band and they won't stop performing and creating music. As an example, their drummer lost an arm just before they were getting popular and that didn't stop them from making albums. Their guitarist died early and it still didn't make them stop. Their replacement guitarist had cancer and that STILL didn't stop them. As you can already tell, they're very tenacious and persistent as a band.

Amazingly, these four haven't lost their touch over the years. I've seen them live on their "Mirror Ball"  tour and I gotta say, I was really impressed. Considering that a lot of years have passed and they still have it. A top favorite song of theirs that I listen to a lot is called "Armageddon It". It really shows the core of what the group is all about. The beat of it, the rhythm of it and the style of it is seen in all their popular songs. But it never gets old. Every song they create is surprisingly unique.
Members:

-Joe Elliot: He's a good example of when I mentioned that they still sound amazing. His voice is immortal or something. It sounds the same as it did 30 years ago. I really like the way his voice has that raspy, hoarse frequency. It really fits in with the rest of the music. Even in the slowest ballads, he manages to maintain that awesome aspect about his vocals.

-Rick Allen: I don't know how he does it. This drummer lost his arm and he never quit. He really showed me that no matter what happens, you must keep doing what you love. Don't let a problem drag you down in life. All in all, seeing him play was really an eye-opener for me. He's a really
 talented drummer.

-Phil Collen: A simply astounding guitar player. He puts so much passion into his career as a guitarist. Although he always looks serious when it comes to performing. He seems a lot more energetic of you listen to his riffs.
Vivian Campbell: I honestly prefer him over the original guitarist. I see him as the greatest replacement of all music history. This man fought cancer and went and performed a couple years later. I give a lot of respect to that man. His passion for music is greater than any other member. He was also a member of Dio, which is even more legendary.

Rick Savage: Truly one of rock and roll's greatest bassists. His tabs are very difficult to follow and he is no doubt my favorite 80's instrumentalist. Whenever I listen to one of their heavy tracks I can't help but to only listen to his bass-line.

To finish, Def Leppard is an incredibly adapting group. They really know how to roll with the punches. I hope that they will never stop making music and stay as awesome as they we're 30 years ago.

Fleetwood Mac (1967-1987)

You have probably heard their sound before. Considering they basically invented it. I view this group as the most creative vibe of all rock groups. Some of their songs can be seen as so poetic and artsy that it's rare to find a 'boring' song. Out of all their discography, no other band can ever replicate what Fleetwood Mac has created It's natural 'Blues' the band brings is astounding. Much like Pink Floyd, Their cover art is almost as good as the music they produced. I don't really understand most concepts for album covers, but the cover for their 1979 album 'Tusk' is brilliant.

Now I don't just appreciate their style, I also admire some of their creativity in certain songs. A great favorite of mine is from their "Rumours" album, called "The Chain". Now I don't often pay attention to the music whenever I listen to them. But on this song, the composing is tremendously well organized. You can really tell the emotion they set this song out to be. This track definitely upgrades the album to what it truly is.

Members:

-Mick Fleetwood: Now here's a man with passion on what he does. He's had such a good career as a drummer. He was in Spinal Tap, though not a real band but a very comedic one. I really enjoy his style as a percussionist too. Very distinctive.
-Lindsey Buckingham: This artist really knows how to write music. And sing as well. And play guitar. Another multi-talented musician. I see Lindsey as the brains behind the group. I believe he directed where the band was going artistically.

-Stevie Nicks: Stevie is proof that women can play an important role in rock and roll. Not only an excellent singer, but a great front-woman as well. Her talent can really help a group like Fleetwood Mac.

-Christine McVie: Another great female rock and roll artist. Her keyboard abilities are unbelievable. "You Make Loving Fun" wouldn't be a good song without her.
-John McVie: Although I felt like I heard his style before, he's very agile on the bass. Not my favorite when he plays certain tabs. But all in all, he's pretty talented.
To sum it all up, Fleetwood Mac is guaranteed to shock you when you first hear them. I will always think of this group as a very poetic blues group. Mixed with some of the best genres of all time, Classic Rock. I would definitely recommend this to a person who doesn't like heavy music, but doesn't want it bland.

Rush (1971-Present)

Most definetly my favorite trio group. This Canadian band never ceases to amaze me since my childhood. That's right, I grew up listening to Rush. It astounds me that only three musicians can produce such a powerful sound. Mix Canadian's greatest drummer, a multitasking Bassist and a master guitarist, and you have the most popular progressive rock band in the world. They constantly changed their style, but still managed to stay on the right track. They started off as a hard rock band. Playing songs like "Working Man". Suddenly, they completely changed their style to this hybrid between modern and progressive music that still contained that style that some listeners loved.

As a fan, I'll admit that I enjoy their hybrid era a lot more than their poetic stuff. Albums like "2112" and "Moving Pictures" really enjoyable albums for me. And my favorite song of theirs is a song called "Limelight" that I really enjoyed growing up. Ever since my dad put on this track I have always admired this song.

Members:

-Geddy Lee: Remember when I mentioned a multitasking bassist earlier in this blog? Well, that's Geddy Lee. And I wasn't exagerrating when I said multitasking. This man can play a bass like ringing a bell, sing like there's no tomorrow, and play the keyboards with his feet. Yep.... I said it...play the keyboards with his feet! He truly is a fantastic artist that is uncomparable to artists like today.
-Alex Lifeson: Alex can play the most superb solos without even trying. His skills on the six stringed instrument is unmatched compared to other rock guitarists. I give him credit for starting the group and actually staying in it and giving it his all. I have much repsect for this musician because he's one of the first guitarists I've ever truly listened to.

-Neil Peart: What can I say? He's the world's greatest drummer. This percussionist has to be the most precise and outrageously amazing drummer that has ever performed. He's so good, that he tries other artist's "styles" for sport. I definetly would not want to go toe-to-toe with this man in a drum-off. He breaks through all the barriers when it comes to technique. He's rock and roll's Buddy Rich.
To conclude, Rush is an astounding band. This band really molded me as a music-lover. I will never forget how great of a band this is. I aspire my band to be as great as theirs one day.
